My Love/ Hate Relationship with Editing

Hello family and friends!

During this week in my research fellowing, I have finished yet another video. During the editing process, I realized how much I love and hate it.

The thing that I like about editing is that it’s like another art project. I find it fun to take the video clips, put them together, and make the whole video cohesive. I also enjoy putting in the transitions to make the video flow smoothly. The fine tuning can be very rewarding in the end when all my hard work pays off.

But at the same time, I find the small editing to be particularly tedious. It’s frustrating when the edits don’t run smoothly and it takes a while for them to work properly. Even the two minute videos that I edit take a week for them to make!

I liked editing this video because I am beginning to have a routine with the editing process. This time around, I decided to do a rough cut of the video, and place parts of the video where I though they fit best. Also, I started editing from the front to the end because otherwise it’s difficult to move all the video pieces around. It sounds like this should have been what I was doing in the first place, but hey, you learn something new everyday.

I have learned to appreciate the editing process and I have been enjoying making the teasers for Full Spectrum Learning!
